TBM Ride with LFR - 28th September 2010
Yesterday LFR, with the RCT Enforcement Team, hosted TBM journalist James Barnicoat. James came at LFR's invitation to see for himself what's happening in the South Wales valleys and use what he learned to write a feature for TBM magazine. Following introductions Gavin Davies (RCT) led the group though a couple of local byways before heading into the forests to give James a taste of the kind of trails we hope to secure for the LFR scheme. After an enjoyable ride it was interview time before packing up and heading home. Read the full story in TBM's November issue.
LFR Meets Tread Lightly - 2nd September 2010
Last night Mike and I met with Tread Lightly at the South Wales Trail Riders Fellowship (TRF) meeting in Cardiff. Tread Lightly were in attendance to give a presentation to the TRF but also to explore ways in which they can be of assistance to LFR. We took the opportunity to speak to the TRF group ahead of discussions with Tread Lightly, so after a brief introduction to outline our proposal I handed over to Mike to give a presentation on LFR.
The outcome of our talks is that Tread Lightly will support our proposal. They have agreed to look at the document and offer guidance/suggestions to improve it. This can then be submitted to Forestry Commission Wales (FCW) for consideration. With a little luck this process can be completed ahead of the FCW meeting later this month and the revised document will also be available for download from this site. We are happy to forge an association with this well respected organisation and a link to their web site has been added to our home page.
Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT) Endorses LFR Approach - 19th August 2010
In a press release on the RCT website Paul Cannon, Chair of the Community Safety Partnership, said: "This unique partnership is a success because of the commitment and professionalism of the Legal Forest Riders and the determination of the Community Safety Partnership to show that access to the forestry can be done in a manner that does not generate complaints and concerns."
This public endorsement from a local authority who have had their fair share of anti-social motorcycle riding problems, illustrates the growing recognition and respect LFR is getting. Full details of the press release can be found at Rhondda Cynon Taf/News
